The Overseas Stars: Impact Players from Around the Globe in IPL 2023

In the IPL 2023 Final, CSK, captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, defeated Gujarat Titans, the defending champions, by 5 wickets (using the DLS system), setting a new record for most victories. As they won the title as a team, the winning team didn’t have many individual award winners.
While many players contributed to CSK’s push for the championship, the Yellow Brigade received two particularly noteworthy contributions from international luminaries. Matheesha Pathirana and Devon Conway made the season’s top 10 performers list.

The Gujarat Titans won both the Purple Cap (Most Wickets) and the Orange Cap (Most Runs), with Shubman Gill and Mohammed Shami receiving the corresponding honours. In fact, Indian players were among the top 10 run scorers and Indian players were among the top 10 wicket-takers for the season. Conway, New Zealander who started for CSK, came in second place overall and behind South African Faf Du Plessis of Royal Challengers Bangalore in terms of most runs scored during the season.

Only the dependable Australian opener and captain of the Delhi Capitals, David Warner, entered the top 10 as he increased his IPL record for most fifty-sevens.

Harry Brook, another foreign star, hit the first hundred of this season, but the costly English batter couldn’t live up to his price tag for Sunrisers Hyderabad. This season, only three of the 12 hundreds scored were by foreign players.
